September kicks off with a SoCal jazz week including John Daversa, Tierney Sutton, Yellowjackets, Larry Goldings, Byron Stripling & Bobby Floyd, Larry Nash, Barbara Morrison, Max Gerl, Jessica Vautor & Vardan Ovsepian, Sam Hirsh, and Joey Sellers.

Tuesday, June 15th marked the end of most California restrictions on live music venues including bars, restaurants, and indoor/outdoor performance venues. Some venues have begun offering full seating for live music, while others are operating at reduced capacity.

Most restaurant and bar venues around Los Angeles can be expected to require masks except when eating or drinking, based on the latest recommendations from public health officials, and many will soon require proof of COVID vaccination or recent negative COVID tests for admission. Larger venues in California will soon require masks and proof of vaccination/negative COVID test, per state requirements. Please check with individual venues for specific requirements including advance reservations, masks and social distancing.

Yellowjackets are at Vibrato in Bel Air for the second of two nights (Sun-Mon) with Bob Mintzer on sax, Russell Ferrante on keys, Dane Alderson on bass, and Will Kennedy on drums. Trombonist Joey Sellers leads a group of Saddleback College Faculty members at the Fine Arts Plaza at Saddleback in Mission Viejo. Bassist Billy Mohler is at ETA in Highland Park. Guitarist Jacques Lesure leads a straight-ahead Monday jazz jam session at the Lighthouse Cafe in Hermosa Beach. Saxophonist Greg Vail is at The Drake in Laguna Beach. Vocalist Rose Mallett opens a new Tuesday night residency at the Purple Room in Palm Springs. Guitarist Shea Welsh is at TRiP in Santa Monica.
